How can I find a lawyer in the Sydney CBD?

To find a lawyer who services courts in the City of Sydney, you can undertake a find a lawyer search on our website, undertake a search of the Law Society of NSW’s online register of solicitors or contact the Law Society on 9926 0333.

What should I do if I’m charged with a criminal or traffic offence in the Sydney CBD?

If you are going to court for a criminal or traffic offence in a court in the Sydney CBD, it is important to speak with a specialist defence lawyer as soon as possible, so you can obtain accurate advice about the laws that apply – including whether the allegations are deficient in any legal respect and whether any legal defences may be available – your options including in relation to how you should plead, the process and the best way forward to ensure you achieve the optimal outcome in the circumstances.

It is a good idea to look for a firm that specialises in criminal and traffic cases, rather than a general legal practice that spreads itself over many areas of law.

It is also a good idea to seek a firm that is not strictly fees- oriented – such as one that offers a free first appointment as well as the transparency and certainty of a fixed fee structure.

Who are the best lawyers in the City of Sydney?

Finding the best lawyer and law firm for your particular situation can involve finding out whether they specialise in the area of law that covers your legal issue, whether they regularly attend the courthouse in which your case is being heard – which will be the case if their head offices are located nearby – their level of experience, whether they have a long and proven track record of achieving positive outcomes, and carefully considering their reviews from previous clients.

Transparency in costs and affordability are also important, so it’s a good idea to look for a law firm that offers fixed fees, as well as a free first appointment to assess whether they’re the right lawyers for you.
