Parramatta Local Court is located at 12 George Street, Parramatta.

The court has the jurisdiction (power) to hear and finalise many less-serious criminal and traffic cases, as well as to deal with the early stages of even the most serious types of cases before referring them to a higher court, such as the District or Supreme Court.

Parramatta District Court, which is officially called Sydney West Trial Courts, is located at 6 George Street, Parramatta – just across the road from the Local courthouse.

The court has the jurisdiction to hear a wide range of criminal and traffic cases, and is where appeals from the Local Court take place, such as appeals against the severity of sentence and appeals against conviction.

It is also where, as the official name suggests, many jury trials are conducted in more serious types of cases, as well as sentencing hearings in serious cases where a person wishes to plead guilty.

Parramatta Children’s Court

Parramatta Children’s Court is located at 2 George Street, Parramatta – right beside the District courthouse. As the name suggests, the court hears cases involving those who are under the age of 18 years.

Parramatta Bail Court

Parramatta Bail Court is located at 2 George Street, Parramatta – inside the Children’s courthouse.

It operates on the weekends to ensure those who are taken into custody outside normal court operating hours (Mondays to Fridays) are brought before the court as soon as practicable as required by the law.
